Well, I guess I should start with my stats. I'm 36 and was born in L.A. Calif. I am a 14(15?) year survivor. I was on back of a motorcycle and we were hit head on by a drunk driver. My friend tried to get out of the way, but only managed to put me right in front of the car. The bumper shattered my left lower leg (5 compound fractures), I broke the windshield with my shoulder, then flew 40 feet and landed on my head (yes, I had a helmet on). I lost all my memories from the point on impact back. I do get memories from time to time but they almost always fade again. I hid my memory losss for 14 years, mainly by cutting myself off from my family and nodding and smiling at gatherings. Now I have admitted my problems and am trying to deal with TBI instead of hiding. My wife has been more help than anyone else, including doctors, and she is the one who found this site. I suffer from constat headaches and ringing in my ears and depression from the loss of memory. I do have a job and manage that pretty well. I'd like to leave you with a poem I wrote about my accident and all that I remember of it.
