ShaMarie "sha"
My name is ShaMarie "sha" my husband is Don we have three beuitiful children. Our son Kevin fell off the side of a set of stairs when he was 2, he landed on his head onto concrete floor and sustained a closed head injury with a depressed skull fracture. Diagnosed with ADHD, Post concussion syndrome, violent aggressive outbursts, conduct disorder ,ODD and a serious sleep disorder as well as a pheonominon. For five years we have been searching for answers, gaining and losing hope. Brain Injury is such a dreadful thing. Poor little Kevin has been rejected by other family members, teachers, landlords, other children and most of society and labeled as a bad child. Little does the world know. I am so sorry to all the children and parents, I myself have put down and critisized for the "non disiplined, short tempered, rude and obnoxious" behaviored people out there. Before my own family dealt with this pheonominon we had no idea what makes people do the things they do, now we know and sympathize with all involved with such a tramatic event that not only hurts the brain damaged individual but everyone around that person. This has truly changed our lives in all aspects good, bad, or indifferent. I am amazed how society sees negative before good. Our son is a very amazing child that has a better understanding of life than most. He is such a loving, caring, compassionate individual, he has the ability to feel, see, hear, taste, smell, walk and talk but no ability to control his anger, sleep, impulses, thoughts, memory and the list goes on. My husband and I are trying to educate the schools and doctors for a better understanding of these children. I am shocked how so many people suffer from a disease that has no cure, (for now). We will continue to learn and hopefully help others. I am so grateful for the TBI chatroom, if it was not for this I wouldn't of even had a clue where to start researching. I am also grateful that the people here have allowed me to finally speak to people that understand . When I first came to the TBI chatroom my thought was to learn my son from people who have TBI since my son could not express how he was feeling or what he goes through. I am so grateful to those who I have had the oppertunity to share our life with and that have shared with me. I have a great deal of respect to all who live with TBI and the trials of life they and their family go through.Without this resource I would not be where I am today Thank You, ShaMarie and FamilyEmail ShaMarie
