Sean "CSP" Paul Clanton

The reason I use Csp is because I can put the s & p inside the C and those are my initials on my mosaic art. August 14th, 1998, I was on my way to the Atlanta airport to pick up a young man, who was flying over from England to come to play soccer for me at a small Christian college. I headed down the highway and I am told I hit a rainstorm. The car hydro-planed off the road and was wrapped around a tree. A doctor from the closest ER was on his way home, when he heard the call on his scanner. Dr. Devain met the ambulance at the scene and they started extracting me. I am not sure how long it took, but thank God the good doctor gave me a trach, while we were in route to the Emergency Room. From there they stabilized me in the ER and then airlifted me to a bigger Trauma Center in Chattanooga, TN. I stayed in Erlnager Trauma Center for 3 weeks in a coma, then I was transported to Shepherd's Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Shepherd's has an ABI wing and that is where I stayed for 2 more months. In time I went through Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, but most of all I was starting to learn how to function independently, or more independent. From there I went to Jacksonville, FL and back to my mother's home where I was bussed back and forth to a wonderful and very intense therapy program. This therapy was the combination of cognitive therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and group discussions to help us cope with all the life changes. I was there until early March of 1999, but I really missed my daughter and wife and (although it sounds crazy) I miss my soccer teams. When I came back home, I worked half days and was at therapy for the other half of the day. My (now) ex-wife and I started fighting, not physically but we argue. I know now why I couldn't say I loved her. It is because I couldn't love myself. We lived together for another year. Then we separated and shortly after that she asked me for a divorce. A year later we finally divorced, but we are both still involved in our child's life. I don't have therapy anymore, so I find other ways to continue improving. I spend a lot of time in the gym working out with weights and different machines for cardiovascular exercise. Other than spending time with my daughter and working out, I am somewhat of an artist. I mostly work in mosaics, working with ceramic tile. I recently met someone who is trying to expose my art and she calls me an artisan, because it is very functional art. It is beautiful, but it can be furniture or things like birdhouses & gardenstones. It isn't a living but it gives me more reason to wake up in the morning.
