"ABANDONED RURAL AMERICA" SERIES:
BLACK AND WHITE IMAGING

Photography by Janee "Patch" tbichat OwlBarn--Barns like this one can be seen spotting the desert lands of Eastern Oregon, most were used for the dozens of horses it took to farm the hundreds of acres of wheat. This barn no longer accommodates horses, but is home to a family of Great Horned Owls. Late in the evening the owls can be seen sitting on the left over equipment in the top of the barn. The young owls practice their first flights from the barn to the dead snag out front. Great Horned Owls are not a common site in the Oregon Desert.

Photography by Janee ("Patch")tbichat OldSchool--This old school house sits in Oregon's Willamette Valley, it depicts a time gone by. Children who lived within a few miles of the school were educated there. Now the small school is long forgotten with time, consolidation is the future.

Photography by Janee("Patch"tbichat) EchoWindmill--Left out on the Oregon Trail, this windmill is long forgotten, the cistern still holds water and the blades still turn with the wind. The date scratched into the side of the cement walls reads 1916. Many remnants can be seen wandering the highways and by ways.
