The current engine is the stock 305 chevy V8. I've bought a 350 that is being rebuilt at "Blackhole Racing" in Philadelphia by Mike Gay, the owner.
Mike is a semi-pro drag racer I couldn't
have hoped for a better wrench turner.
I have a chrome kit to add to it when the motor arrives here in Colrado. This 1977 Firebird will have a rebuilt Chevy 350 V8 plus the Turbo-hydromatic 350 transmission, new carpet, AC, and the passion of hand turned screws by a fellow officer in his off hours.
This project is in recognition of all Law Enforcement Officers by a fellow Officer.
I plan to have the fallen twin towers painted on the hood scoops with the Pentagon in between.
I've already received approval from the
National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial in Washinton DC to use their logo on the car. I'm also going to include the logo of the Disabled and Injured Police Officer Foundation.
The goal is to drive the car with red, white, and blue colors on it also from Denver to Washington for Police Memorial Week in May.
I need the word to get out to the FOP, News organizations, LE agencies, and anyone else interested. I want to include NYPD and Port Authority patches or badges on the car as well. I just don't have the contacts. This is a real project that I want to drive straight to the front of the NLEOM steps!
It's possible to make this something to honor our fallen fellow officers at car shows, parades, and in the media.
If I can get the interest of the media in
following the coverage of the restoration to the drive from state line to state line, culminating in the arrival at DC then Ground Zero in NYC, then hopefully it will bring to light that each and every one of us stand a chance to have our name on the wall!
We are in the profession that may lead to one of ours deaths, that's the reality.
I'm doing this in hopes of showing one person can make a difference. I'm transforming a small idea into something that can live on for our fallen brothers.
I'm asking if please, you can spread the word.
The FREEDOM FIREBIRD PROJECT must become a reality.
Happy New Year, God Bless, Stay Safe!!
