PBS "And Thou Shalt Honor" Airing on Caregiving

"A special two hour program "AND THOU SHALT HONOR" is airing on PBS October 9, 2002 at 9PM/EST (check listings).

It is about caregiving though emphasis on the elderly, the fact that awareness is brought out as to the tremendous challenges caregivers and survivors face it gives public awareness as to the reality of what many of us have endured for years as Caregivers and Survivors.

At the same time, this program also helps others to see from an objective point of view the dual roles we at times face as Survivors of TBI/ABI and CAREGIVERS thus cause for advocating on behalf of TBI/ABI awareness.

Part of my advocacy on behalf of Disability Rights, is through outreach programs and by attending as forums, either to speak or participate on behalf of TBI/ABI by sharing our own stories both Blu's and mine as her caregiver, mother and survivor.

Blu and I were invited by the Los Angeles Caregivers Resource Center as members, to share an evening with the those that made it possible to create the film and book released "AND THOU SHALT HONOR".the Caregivers Companion, forward by Rosalynn Carter airing on Oct 9,2002 9PM/EST.

It is by participating within the communities in outreach programs and self advocacy on behalf of tbi/abi that opens doors to have others understand the tremendous challenges we all have faced and overcome and still continue in our Journeys.

As we all know, TBI/ABI has no age barriers and in a second not only our lives are changed, but also of all those around us, thus advocacy on behalf of the fact that we have assumed such roles without notice and there is not turning back the of hands of time. However, we can make such a difference in helping others by sharing how we have been helped by so many other caregivers and survivors of TBI/ABI, as this site and other sites do so freely."
