Update 03/20/07
I have not visited in quite awhile. Kim passed away 9/1/06. She had recovered
as much as we think she could. Having a trac still in for over 6 yrs was too much
for her as she continuously pulled it out everyday. She pulled it out in the middle
of the night & her husband did not hear her or know she had done it. A piece of my
heart actually my whole heart went with her that morning of 9/1/06. I do not claim
to be psychic or really to have abilities but I do have constant dejavu.
Something awoke me the morning of Sept. 1,06 alittle after 3am. I do not know if
it was her telling me she was leaving us. I have acid reflux disease & had not had
a flare up in a long time & I awoke choking.
Kim was more so much more than my sister she was my best friend. I wanted to be like
her to have her beauty, her charm , her carefree loving ways. She was so beautiful
in a literal sence also.
She left behind her husband, her little girl & a family that loved her so very much
& will see her again!
Update 03/06/03
Hi I'm Nancy! Kim Diamond is my sister that was in the car accident with me and suffered TBI as a result. It is 2yrs. 9 months after the life altering accident of 6/11/2001. I have been absent from this site for quite awhile due to my on going therapy.
Kim has made remarkable progress but still has a long way to go. She is learning to stand and still undergoing extensive therapy. Speech is still a problem because she still has a trac. but her determination & will has surpassed any doctors or really anyone's expectations.
I would love to have correspondence with others on the site. Above all keep the faith, for miracles do not happen overnight but they do happen! My sister & best friend has beat the odds with her faith, wisdom, determination & courage. I know that someday she will eventually get back what doctors have said she may never get back.
Sincerely,
Nancy

Original Story
I am writing this for my big sister Kim, who has t.b.i. She is truly a gem and the light of alot of peoples life! My name is Nancy, I am Kim's baby sis, 8 yrs. younger. On June 11,2000, it was a hot beautiful day in the deep south on the coast. My sister and I set out on a trip to Texas that would never really get started. I live almost 2 hours away in S.Ala., she lives in Miss. with her husband and 11yr. old little girl. I owned a Kia sephia L.S. a 98. I had some problems out of the car almost right off the bat, after buying it new. It had been in the shop for the brakes, drums, and rotors 3 times. At the time I was to take trip on 6/11/00, I had not been having trouble with car, that's why we were taking the trip in it. We made it about 6 miles away from Kim's house and I hit my brakes and I knew something wasn't right. I was going about 40 mph. and was coming up on a short curve then a stop sign at the main road. I said to Kim something isn't right, looked to my left and saw an 18 wheeler coming down the hill. Little did I know he was not suppose to be traveling this road, he was going way to fast and you can't slam on brakes in something that big. I hit my brakes and beared down as hard as I could, also tried to jerk the steering wheel to right in the direction truck was going, nothing worked, car locked up. Next thing I remember was waking up a few minutes later smelling a horrible smell, then looking over at my sister. I was horrified at what I saw. She had been thrown through the windshield ,the airbag did not go off at time of impact or when mine did. The airbag finally deployed and threw her back in the car. I was screaming for help as I saw people stop and get out of there car. I tried to get my foot from under the brake pedal, it had almost twisted around it. I did not know ho severe my injuries were. I wanted to get out and help my sister. In a matter of minutes paramedics and jaws of life, and life flight was there. She was immediately taken into surgury and was not doing good. They almost lost her a couple of times. Dear God has answered all of our prayers, she made it through. She stayed in I.C.U. I think for over a month, step-down unit for about the same. From there she went to M.M.R.C.in Jackson,Miss. stayed there until Sept. She has made remarkable progress, and continues to improve everyday. I has been almost 10 months and she is going back to rehab. but she is suppose to be coming to Ala. then going back to M.M.R.C. in Miss. in July. With love of family and friends, And most of all God, have faith and never give up hope. Oh, I forgot to tell you one more thing about Kim, before the accident she was in the logging business. How many women lumberjacks have you heard of. She is a beautiful girl, needed to be in magazines, instead of the woods, but that's what made her happy, because she loved to be outside! God Bless!!!
