My story doesn"t compare to the horror of most. I am 60 yrs. old and it has taken place over much of my life. When I was barely 4 yrs. old, I had an accident on an old rusty tractor with a disk-harrow on back. This was during w.w.2.The tractor was at my Uncles farm in rural central Texas. My sister(1 yr.older) and I were playing and she found a way to climb up to the seat from the back and of course I had to try it too. I fell and hit the lwr. left back of my head on that disk-harrow. We had no car abd no Dr. My Mom had to hold me down while my Aunt clipped my hair and poured coal-oil on the cut ,then they wrapped a rag bandage around it. The bandage was changed regularly and the cut soon healed. Not mnay months after that My sister, brother and I were placed in a children's home because my Mom didn't make enough money to support us and pay someone to look after us and my folks were divorced.Anyway, at the "Home",I attended kindegarten and there was a big playground there. The swings were the old kind with ropes and a board for the seat. One day I walked in front of the swing while 2 boys were on it. It hit me right above my left eye.I was taken to the Home's infirmaryand kept several hours,my wound dressed and I was released.
By the time I started 1st.
