John

I received the call at 2:14am November 29, 2002. It was the police and my daughter had been in an accident. That is when our lives changed forever. When I got to the hospital my first question was, "is she going to live?" The doctors did not know if she would. Nikki spent sixteen days in a coma and another eighty-two recovering in the hospital. God saved her that night. She suffered a traumatic brain injury, her right temporal lobe was damaged and partially removed, a broken pelvis, broken L4 vertebrae, broken left wrist, and several other injuries in addition to pneumonia twice, collapsed lung, internal bleeding and two bacterial infections. She is a warrior and with the help of the saints at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh and Health South Rehabilitation Hospital in Harmarville, she is making it. Nikki is home now and doing well. She is beautiful, funny, loving and a joy to be with. Her passion is her nephew Jace and shopping. There is so much more to her story and it isn't over. She was out with friends having a good time and her life was ripped from her by the carelessness of a cold hearted empty person. Thank you God, thank you doctors and nurses and thank you Nikki for being strong and not giving up. Please keep strong and pray and hope for yourself and for all others who go through this. There is life after TBI, and it can be a great life. To those who lost love ones to this tragic injury, I pray for you and your families and may God bless you always. My family and I will always pray for the unfortunate souls who are touched by this. Be good and be careful.

John
