I just turned 16 in July 1986. In April 1987 I was driving to my after school job when my back axle broke. The car went spinning into a telephone pole. I hit my head 3 times on the windshield. I was in a coma for 3 days. When I came out off the coma the doctor that examined me didn't see anything wrong. He was just a regular doctor.
He said go home, rest a few days then back to normal behavior. I did that. 27 days after the first accident I was driving my grandfather brand new 3 day old car & I had a seizure behind the wheel. The car went off the road uo on a bank & hit some trees. This made it stand up on its nose, flipped over throwing me out the passenger window. I landed on the road on my head. I was in a coma for 1 year. My mother came up to the hospital everyday from 9 AM to 9 PM. She only missed 3 days. My dad made her go with him in the tractor-n-trailer for a vacation. While I was in the coma my temp went up to 106.
I have come farther than the doctors said I would but, I could be better if I wasn't so hard headed & would have did all of my exercises like the PT told me.
I had my accidents in Pennsylvania. Now I live in Virginia. I'm in a wheelchair with a speech problem. My left side of my body is normal. My right side is weaker.
