My son, Kenny, is a beautiful 21 month old boy. When he was 10 months old he was hospitalized with dehydration due to a stomach virus. Three days into the hospital stay our wonderful pediatrician was going to discharge the next day, it would have been a Saturday, September 1, 2001. During the night I could not sleeo so I turned in the t.v. around midnight only for Kenny to awaken around 3:ooam crying as if he was in excruciating pain. I beeped the nurse and she came into the room only to run out and page the doctor. My son had stopped breathing in my arms. I laid him on the bed and rushed out screaming and panicing only to be set in a quiet room and told to call any family I had. Kenny had suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest and was revived three times. We were sent to Children's Hospital once he was stabalized and that is where I heard the words BRAIN INJURY, like a roaring train in my head. It has been a very hard road and the only time I have cried and been scared out of my mind was during the arrest. I will be strong for my son and I will continue to hope and pray until my son is better. I will not go into a shell and give up. I am my sons advocate and I am the only one he looks at with the assurance that I am here to help, love, and devote myself to him. Please feel free to contact me any one who wants to talk.
